At the time, he had recently separated from his wife, Debra Stadt, and was entangled in a contentious custody dispute. Ron had discovered that his former best friend and ex-roommate, Ramon Jay Rogers, was having an affair with Debra. This revelation deeply strained their relationship and became a point of tension between the two men.
