On the night of April 23, 1997, 21-year-old Angela Holmes was working as the manager of a Baskin-Robbins ice cream shop in Clarksville, Tennessee. A white female, Holmes was accompanied by her 16-year-old co-worker, Michelle Mace. What began as a routine closing shift descended into a tragedy that would leave a lasting scar on the community.
