Tyshon Bowman, 32, a Black male, was shot and killed in Las Vegas on Wednesday, May 21, 2014. Police said he became involved in an argument at an apartment complex and was chased into the street, where he was gunned down. He died from a gunshot wound to the head, and detectives opened a homicide investigation as family, neighbors, and responding officers tried to piece together what had sparked the confrontation in the central valley.
Over the months that followed, investigators focused on a volatile domestic history that had spilled into the open. A Clark County grand jury indicted 32-year-old Randolph McGuire on a murder charge, with prosecutors alleging he had lain in wait for his former girlfriend and her new boyfriend, Bowman, as they arrived to pick up her children at a cousin’s apartment. One of McGuire’s own children was inside when the confrontation erupted. Prosecutors said McGuire fired once at Bowman and, after Bowman fell, fired a second shot into his head. McGuire was ordered held at the Clark County Detention Center without bail and also faced counts related to possession of a firearm by an ex-felon.
Public arrest records from that period reflect McGuire’s booking on open murder and prohibited-person-with-a-gun charges in September 2014, consistent with the indictment’s timeline. In subsequent years, appellate filings under the name Randolph James McGuire challenged aspects of his sentence; Nevada appellate courts rejected those challenges, leaving the lower court’s judgment intact.
