In the late hours of a Sunday evening in Las Vegas, a dispute turned deadly, claiming the life of 20-year-old Marcell Portier Titus. On November 15, 2015, in the 4500 block of Bonita Vista Street, near Peace Way, an argument between Titus, a Black male, and another man escalated into a physical fight. Tragically, the altercation took a fatal turn when a third individual fired multiple gunshots, striking Titus.
Police received a call about a shooting and a man down just before midnight.
Upon arrival, medical personnel pronounced Titus deceased at the scene from multiple gunshot wounds. The shooter fled the area on foot. Witnesses reported seeing a Hispanic male with black hair, wearing a gray shirt, running west on Peace Way shortly after the incident. The Clark County Coroner's office later clarified that while the incident occurred in Las Vegas, Titus was a resident of North Las Vegas.
The homicide was the 107th investigated by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department in 2015. Despite the description of a person seen fleeing the scene, publicly available information has not indicated that an arrest has been made in connection with the shooting. The case remains a painful and unresolved chapter for the family and friends of the young man whose life was cut short.
