On January 11, 1990, 25-year-old African American female Jeanette Thomas disappeared after leaving a bar in the Allison Hill neighborhood of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Her remains were discovered in 1990 or 1991, and William Kelly, a 31-year-old man, confessed to her murder and pleaded guilty. Kelly was sentenced to 10 to 20 years in prison. However, subsequent DNA testing revealed that Joseph Daniel Miller was the actual perpetrator, leading to Kelly's release.
