On July 22, 2023, at approximately 1 a.m., 21-year-old Janaya Lopez was fatally shot near the intersection of South 16th and Chestnut Streets in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Officers responding to reports of gunfire discovered Lopez suffering from a gunshot wound; she was pronounced dead at the scene.
