David Wayne Pollard, 47, the victim's husband, was arrested at the scene and charged with murder. He was taken into custody with bond set at $300,000. David Pollard also worked for Lamar CISD as their safety coordinator in the district's police department, bringing a tragic irony to his role in developing safety plans for students and staff. According to the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office, there were no prior calls for service to the Pollards' residence.
The couple had two children who were also part of the Lamar CISD community. Neighbors described Iona as a quiet, friendly person who was always eager to greet others.
