On January 13, 2024, a tragic incident unfolded in Richmond, Texas, resulting in the death of 46-year-old Kacey A. Fullerton. Kacey was among four family members fatally shot by Alrick “Shawn” Barrett, the estranged husband of her sister, Francia Fullerton. The victims included Kacey, her sister Francia (44), her brother Omar (43), and her 8-year-old niece, Aniah.
The family had gathered at their mother, Hortense Fullerton's, home to celebrate a baby shower for her youngest daughter. Barrett arrived that morning under the pretense of returning his child after a visit. Once inside, he expressed a desire to reconcile with his estranged wife, Francia. Upon her refusal, Barrett opened fire, killing Francia, her siblings Kacey and Omar, and young Aniah, before taking his own life.
The horrific event was reported to authorities by Barrett's 13-year-old nephew, who survived by hiding in a closet with a 7-year-old child and their grandmother, Hortense.
