Dr. Sherilyn Gordon-Burroughs, a 48-year-old African American transplant surgeon at Houston Methodist Hospital, was tragically killed on March 19, 2017, in an apparent murder-suicide. She was found shot to death in her home in Richmond, Texas, by her husband, Daniel Burroughs, who then took his own life. The incident occurred after a family member requested a welfare check on Sherilyn, leading to a standoff with law enforcement.
