Mackenzie Wisdom, a 22-year-old woman from Gun Barrel City, Texas, tragically lost her life on February 23, 2025, after sustaining a fatal gunshot wound. The incident occurred at approximately 4:08 p.m. in the 300 block of Flagship Lane, prompting an immediate response from the Gun Barrel City Police Department. Upon arrival, officers discovered Wisdom suffering from a gunshot wound.
She was swiftly transported to UT Health Cedar Creek Lake, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
Following an investigation conducted by multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Texas Department of Public Safety, the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office, and the Henderson County District Attorney’s Office, authorities determined that the shooting was an isolated incident. Subsequently, 23-year-old John David Bunch-Stiles, also of Gun Barrel City, was arrested and charged with criminally negligent homicide in connection with Wisdom’s death. Bunch-Stiles was taken into custody and booked into the Henderson County Jail, where he remains as of the latest reports.
While the circumstances leading up to the shooting remain under investigation, law enforcement officials have not released further details regarding the events that transpired before the fatal incident. The Gun Barrel City Police Department extended its condolences to Wisdom’s family, acknowledging the profound loss they have suffered.
