On Saturday, March 15, 2025, at approximately 2:00 PM, Houston Police Department patrol officers responded to reports of a shooting at the intersection of Corto Street and Sayers Street near I-59 in Houston, Texas. Upon arrival, officers discovered 45-year-old Jaroi Coleman unresponsive in the driver's seat of a vehicle that was parked in the middle of the street at 3800 Corto Street.
Houston Fire Department paramedics arrived at the scene and pronounced Coleman deceased.
The victim had sustained multiple gunshot wounds while inside his vehicle. According to witness statements gathered by HPD Homicide Division investigators H. Martinez and S. Chettry, a dark-colored sedan was observed leaving the scene after gunshots were heard.
As of the initial investigation, no suspects have been identified or apprehended, and investigators have not yet determined a motive for the shooting. The Houston Police Department has not released any additional suspect description beyond the dark-colored sedan that fled the scene. The case remains under active investigation by the HPD Homicide Division.
