Carlos Balthazar Canales, a 39-year-old artist and musician from Houston, Texas, was tragically killed on September 3, 2022. Canales was shot by his cousin, Nathan Bryan Miller, 33, in a bizarre incident that involved allegations of witchcraft. The shooting took place in a makeshift homeless encampment in northwest Houston, where Canales had been renting a space to use as a studio.
