On January 22, 2025, 17-year-old African American female Zaniya Booker was fatally shot inside a residence near 28th and Atkinson in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office pronounced her dead at the scene. Zaniya was a senior at Bay View High School and a mother to a 7-month-old daughter named Jazayla.
