On the evening of March 5, 2025, Hopewell Telecommunications received a distress call reporting a shooting incident in the 1000 block of Sunnyside Avenue in Hopewell, Virginia. Upon arrival, officers discovered 30-year-old Tion Kiandre Studivant, an African American male, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Emergency responders transported Studivant to Tri-Cities Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
