In the early morning hours of February 25, 2025, a tragic and targeted act of violence cut short the life of 22-year-old Ahmed Amran in Nashville, Tennessee. Amran, a male, was leaving a hookah bar on Nolensville Pike with three male passengers in his Honda Accord when the fatal encounter unfolded. As they drove away from the establishment at approximately 2:45 a.m., their vehicle was specifically targeted by gunfire.
The hail of bullets resulted in Amran being fatally wounded, and he
was pronounced dead at the scene behind the wheel of his car. The Honda, after the shooting, crashed into a nearby vape shop. Two of the three passengers in the vehicle, both 23 years old, also sustained gunshot wounds and were transported to local hospitals for treatment. The investigation that followed pointed to a premeditated attack. Surveillance footage captured two individuals following Amran and his companions out of the hookah lounge. One of the suspects was seen retrieving an AK-style firearm from another vehicle before approaching Amran's car and opening fire.
An intensive, around-the-clock investigation by Homicide and Specialized Investigations Division detectives led to the swift identification and apprehension of three suspects. Two days after the shooting, Sadiq Al-Sahaf, 23, and Mohammad Al Rabiey, 22, were taken into custody. Al-Sahaf was arrested outside his residence on Thompson Place, while Al Rabiey was apprehended during a traffic stop after leaving a home on Mossdale Drive. Subsequently, a third and final suspect, 21-year-old Abanoub Awed, was also arrested.
All three men, Sadiq Al-Sahaf, Mohammad Al Rabiey, and Abanoub Awed, have been charged with criminal homicide and three counts of attempted criminal homicide. They are being held without bond. At the time of their arrests, it was noted that Al-Sahaf was on federal pretrial release for a drug conspiracy case, and Al Rabiey was out on bond for a grand jury indictment on charges of felony auto burglary and misdemeanor vandalism.
