In the autumn of 2024, a dispute at the Tulsa State Fair tragically escalated, leading to the death of 16-year-old JaTycie Macoby Williams. An African American male, Williams was with a group of eight people in a gray SUV on October 6, 2024, when another vehicle began to pursue them onto Interstate 244. Gunfire erupted from the pursuing vehicle, striking Williams and another occupant of the SUV.
Both victims were transported to a local hospital for treatment.
While the second individual sustained minor injuries, Williams was in critical condition. He succumbed to his injuries nearly a month later, on November 2, 2024. The Oklahoma Office of the Chief Medical Examiner subsequently ruled his death a homicide.
Investigators determined the shooting was an act of retaliation stemming from the earlier altercation at the fairgrounds. Through the use of surveillance footage from the fair and along the interstate, authorities were able to identify a white SUV that had been following the victims' vehicle. This led them to their first suspect, 18-year-old Kyler Naely, who was identified as the driver of the suspect vehicle.
Further investigation led to the arrests of two other individuals believed to have been the shooters. Colby Glenn, 22, and Jace Reddell, 19, were taken into custody and, along with Naely, were charged with first-degree murder. According to police, Glenn had appeared in rap videos on social media in which he seemed to boast about the shooting. All three men were booked into the Tulsa County jail.
