On a cold January morning in 2025, the body of 41-year-old Shamael Miller, a male resident of Queens, was discovered in the lobby of a Coney Island, Brooklyn apartment building. A building worker on an early-morning shift initially mistook Miller for someone sleeping, but upon finding him unresponsive, emergency services were called. Miller had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was rushed to NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn, where he was pronounced dead.
