On the night of March 15, 2025, tragedy struck in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, when 35-year-old Jotavian Wilkins was fatally shot alongside 27-year-old Ty’Quean Sharpe. The incident occurred around 10:50 p.m. at a convenience store located at the corner of Stokes Street and East Raleigh Boulevard. Responding officers discovered three victims suffering from gunshot wounds.
Wilkins and Sharpe were pronounced dead at the scene, while a third victim, identified as 29-year-old Keymon Ervin, was transported to a hospital for treatment and later released.
Authorities swiftly launched an investigation into the double homicide, leading to the identification of 22-year-old Tylik Rashad Mabry as the primary suspect. Mabry, a convicted felon who was on parole at the time of the killings, was located hiding in a motel in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He was arrested on an unrelated outstanding warrant for violating his parole conditions. Following his arrest, Mabry was charged with two counts of first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, shooting into an occupied dwelling, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
The Rocky Mount Police Department, with assistance from the U.S. Marshals Carolinas Regional Fugitive Task Force and the Winston-Salem Police Department, took Mabry into custody. He is currently being held at the Forsyth County Detention Center without bond for the parole violation, with warrants related to the homicide pending service. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue to gather evidence and seek additional information regarding the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting.
