Emmanuel Robert Gent, a 26-year-old man from Rocky Mount, North Carolina, was tragically shot and killed on the night of May 21, 2012. The incident occurred outside a house at 1414 Branch Street, where Gent was visiting his friend Tavarius Monquele Alston, also 26 years old. The two men were outside the house when they were approached by two unidentified assailants. The attackers shot Gent and assaulted Alston, who managed to escape into the house where his wife and children were present.
