Johnny Ray Wilson was fatally shot in the early hours of April 1, 2025, in Pittsburgh’s Homewood North neighborhood. The incident occurred around 2 a.m. on Monticello Street, where Wilson was found outside his vehicle with multiple gunshot wounds to the neck, torso, and extremities. suspects, Shawn Collins, 54, of Pittsburgh, and Lavelle Johnson, 33, of Braddock, have been charged with homicide in connection with Wilson’s death. According to police reports, Collins and Johnson had planned to rob Wilson. Following the shooting, Johnson returned to the house with a gunshot wound and asked Collins to drive him to the hospital. Johnson was taken into surgery upon arrival and was listed in critical but stable condition.
In addition to homicide, both suspects face charges of conspiracy, robbery, and related offenses. Authorities have not disclosed whether Wilson’s age or ethnicity were documented in court records.
