Jeffrey Gavin, a 46-year-old man from North Philadelphia, was found shot to death on May 14, 2025. His body was discovered on the rear first-floor rooftop of a residence in Philadelphia’s Kensington section. Officers responded to the scene on the 1800 block of East Albert Street around 8:45 a.m. after receiving a call about a person with a gun. Upon arrival, they found Gavin deceased.
Inside the rear bedroom of the home, investigators recovered three shell casings, indicating that shots had been fired inside the residence. The homicide unit has taken over the investigation, but as of now, no arrests have been made, and authorities have not determined a motive.
In a separate incident on the same day, a deadly triple shooting occurred in Philadelphia’s Kensington neighborhood. Police found two gunshot victims inside a parked pickup truck along Cambria Street. One of the victims, a 42-year-old man in the driver’s seat, was unresponsive with a gunshot wound to his head and was later pronounced dead. A 49-year-old man in the passenger seat had been shot multiple times and was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. A third victim, a 40-year-old man, arrived at a hospital with a gunshot wound to his leg and was listed in stable condition. Investigators believe that at least one of the victims in the truck was the intended target, as evidence showed that at least 15 shots were fired at close range. Surveillance footage is being reviewed to identify suspects and determine a motive.
Authorities have not confirmed any connection between Gavin’s death and the triple shooting. The investigations remain ongoing, with police working to gather more evidence and identify any suspects involved in these violent incidents.
