In the Bronx, a 30-year-old man named Darren Davis tragically lost his life on Saturday, May 10, 2025. The incident occurred in the evening, at approximately 8:33 p.m., in the vicinity of 224 Willis Avenue. Police responded to a 911 call reporting a crime in progress and, upon their arrival, discovered Mr. Davis with a gunshot wound to his chest. A 42-year-old woman was also found at the scene with a gunshot wound to her leg.
Both victims were transported by emergency medical services to NYC Health + Hospitals / Lincoln. While the female victim was listed in stable condition, Mr. Davis was pronounced deceased. As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting, and the investigation remains ongoing.
In a separate and unrelated case from a few years prior, 28-year-old Derrick Davis was fatally shot on June 19, 2021. The incident took place around 1:57 a.m. in front of 571 Southern Blvd. Responding to a 911 call, police officers found Mr. Davis unconscious and unresponsive, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds. He was rushed to NYC Health & Hospitals/Lincoln, where he was pronounced dead. In August of that year, police arrested 25-year-old Jayquan Williams in connection with the shooting. Williams was subsequently charged with murder, manslaughter, and criminal possession of a weapon.
More recently, the Bronx saw the death of 21-year-old Jontay Davis in the early morning hours of September 2, 2025. Mr. Davis was found with a gunshot wound to the head. Investigators believe he was shot elsewhere and then driven to the vicinity of Third Avenue near St. Barnabas Hospital by several individuals who then left him there. He later died at the hospital. In connection with a series of retaliatory shootings that occurred around the same time, a man by the name of Edwards was charged in relation to Mr. Davis's death, and he was allegedly an accomplice to others who have not yet been apprehended. In November 2025, the NYPD released photos of a woman with red hair and a tattoo who was wanted for questioning in connection with the homicide.
