In the Soundview section of the Bronx, a tragedy unfolded on August 2, 2023, claiming the life of 26-year-old Alexis Martinez, an off-duty New York City Police Department officer. The young man, a Black / African American male, was found deceased in a fourth-floor apartment on Fteley Avenue in what investigators have described as an apparent murder-suicide.
