On the evening of February 27, 2025, a violent confrontation unfolded at a gas station in Bridgeton, Missouri, claiming the life of a young man. Daunte Martin, a 22-year-old male from St. Charles, was at the Phillips 66 station located at 12218 St. Charles Rock Road when he became involved in an argument with another individual outside the business.
The dispute escalated around 6:00 p.m., drawing the attention of witnesses and law enforcement.
Responding officers arrived at the scene to find Martin suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the chest. Emergency responders rushed him to a nearby hospital for urgent medical treatment, but despite their efforts, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. Investigators quickly secured the area and began interviewing witnesses and reviewing evidence to piece together the events that led to the fatal shooting.
Police identified the suspect as 25-year-old Gabriel Glenn Roy of Florissant, Missouri. According to charging documents, Roy and Martin were acquaintances who engaged in a verbal altercation in the gas station lot. During the exchange, Roy reportedly held a black 9mm handgun. He later admitted to detectives that he fired three shots at Martin because he felt the younger man was moving toward him during the argument.
Following the investigation, the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged Roy with second-degree murder and armed criminal action. Authorities noted that at the time of his arrest, Roy was already awaiting trial on separate charges involving the unlawful use of a weapon and possession of a controlled substance. He was ordered held on a $500,000 cash-only bond as the legal proceedings against him commenced.
