In a quiet home on Division Street in Vicksburg, Mississippi, a sad event unfolded on the afternoon of Monday, March 17, 2025. Inside, police discovered the bodies of 76-year-old Kathleen Borko Greene, a white female, and her 75-year-old husband, Jack W. Greene. Both had died from gunshot wounds in what was determined to be a murder-suicide.
The Vicksburg Police Department was called to the residence at approximately 12:56 PM.
Upon gaining entry, officers found Kathleen and Jack Greene deceased. Investigators believe that Jack Greene shot his wife before turning the weapon on himself. Kathleen was found to have suffered a gunshot wound to the temple. The case was treated as a death investigation until family members could be notified and evidence was processed.
Kathleen, originally from Sharpsville, Pennsylvania, was a former pastor at the United Church of Christ, having studied at Bangor Theological Seminary. She and Jack, a history enthusiast with a passion for creating warship replicas and wargames, had been married since June 12, 2018. The Vicksburg Police Chief, Penny Jones, assured the community that this was an isolated incident and that there was no further threat to public safety. Following the investigation, the case was officially ruled a murder-suicide by the authorities.
