On what should have been a day of love, Valentine's Day 2025 turned tragic for 29-year-old Eboni Robinson, a Black woman from Detroit, Michigan. On the morning of February 14th, at approximately 8:59 a.m., an argument between Robinson and her 31-year-old boyfriend, Desuan Travon Ross, escalated to a fatal conclusion in the 17400 block of Washburn. The dispute took place inside Robinson's vehicle.
The argument allegedly intensified to the point where Ross exited the vehicle and fired a
handgun multiple times into the driver's side window, striking Robinson. After being shot, her vehicle rolled across the street and crashed into the front porch of a house. It is further alleged that Ross then retrieved a rifle and fired more shots into the car, fatally wounding Robinson. When Detroit police officers arrived at the scene, they found Robinson inside her crashed vehicle with multiple gunshot wounds. Medics were called but pronounced her deceased at the scene.
Following the shooting, Desuan Travon Ross barricaded himself inside a nearby home, leading to a standoff with police that lasted for several hours. Ultimately, negotiators were able to convince Ross to surrender, and he was taken into custody. Ross was subsequently charged with First-Degree Murder and Felony Firearm. He was arraigned on the charges on February 16, 2025, in 36th District Court and was remanded to jail without bond. A probable cause conference was scheduled for February 24, 2025, with a preliminary examination set for March 3, 2025.
