In the early morning hours of October 9, 2022, a tragedy unfolded on the streets of Detroit that claimed three lives. Teosha Williams-Turner, a 30-year-old Black woman, was discovered unresponsive near an SUV at the intersection of Wadsworth and Meyers. She had been fatally shot. The violence of that night did not end with her death; Williams-Turner was seven months pregnant, and despite efforts to save her, her unborn baby girl did not survive.

Police Department revealed another victim connected to this horrific incident. Williams-Turner's boyfriend was found shot to death in the driveway of a residence on the 11700 block of Manor. It was later determined that he was the father of the unborn child. This senseless act of violence left Williams-Turner's two other children, a son and a daughter, without their mother.
In the wake of the killings, the community was left in shock and mourning, calling for an end to gun violence.
