In the quiet coastal town of Grand Isle, Louisiana, a tragedy unfolded that left the community in shock. On Tuesday, March 11, 2025, Brenda Lee Hebert Rickoll, an 82-year-old female resident, was found deceased in her home. A native of Luling, Louisiana, she had made Grand Isle her home.
Authorities from the Grand Isle Police Department responded to a call at a residence in the 2300 block of LA 1 around 11:00 a.m.
Upon their arrival, they discovered the bodies of Brenda and her 79-year-old husband, Robert Rickoll. The initial investigation suggested a grim sequence of events, leading police to request assistance from the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office Homicide Section.
The subsequent investigation determined that Brenda Rickoll's death was the result of a murder-suicide. Investigators concluded that her husband, Robert Rickoll, had fatally shot her before turning the gun on himself. The Jefferson Parish Coroner's Office later confirmed that both individuals died from a gunshot wound to the head.
Brenda is survived by her three children, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and sisters. Her family held a visitation and a Memorial Mass in her honor, followed by a burial in St. Charles Cemetery in Luling. The investigation into the incident concluded with the determination of a murder-suicide, and no further information was made available by the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office.
