The life of 31-year-old Raemel AnDrieka Joél Richardson came to a tragic end on March 17, 2021. A mother from Baton Rouge, her absence was first noted when she failed to appear for her job as a deputy clerk at the Baker City Court. The subsequent investigation into her disappearance would soon uncover a harrowing story of domestic violence that unfolded while her young daughter was nearby.
The last time Richardson was seen, she was leaving her apartment on North Lobdell Boulevard with
her boyfriend, Jonathan Bryant, and her 5-year-old daughter. A verbal argument between Richardson and Bryant is believed to have escalated, leading to a fatal shooting. The most chilling detail of this event is that Richardson's own daughter was in the vehicle when her mother was killed. The child later recounted to investigators that she was awakened by a 'loud bang' while in the car with her mother and Bryant.
Following the shooting, Richardson's car was discovered abandoned and burned in Zachary. Her body was later found along the shoreline of the Mississippi River in Hester, located in St. James Parish. The cause of her death was determined to be a gunshot wound. Investigators questioned Jonathan Bryant, who admitted to arguing with Richardson but initially denied any role in her disappearance.
Despite his denial, authorities arrested Bryant in connection with Richardson's death.
