In the early morning hours of June 23, 2023, a violent intrusion shattered the quiet of a Lakeside Drive apartment in Alexandria, Louisiana. A 34-year-old man, Andrew D. Howard, allegedly forced his way into the residence and opened fire, critically injuring 25-year-old Tyruin Green. The attack prompted Green and another occupant of the apartment to flee on foot in search of help, their escape marking the beginning of a manhunt for the suspected gunman.

call about the shooting, Alexandria Police Department officers arrived at the scene to find the aftermath of the home invasion. Green was quickly transported to a local hospital to be treated for what were described as critical injuries. As detectives delved into the investigation, they were able to identify Howard as the alleged assailant.
Based on the evidence gathered, the Alexandria Police Department secured an arrest warrant for Andrew D. Howard. The charges sought against him were severe: one count of home invasion and one count of attempted first-degree murder.
