In a tragic turn of events on a Saturday afternoon in Waite Park, Minnesota, Janet Vercruysse, a 36-year-old Caucasian female, lost her life in a violent encounter that stunned the community. On April 12, 2025, police officers were attending to an unrelated matter on the 200 block of 10th Avenue North when the sound of gunshots suddenly pierced the air, drawing their immediate attention to a nearby residence. The situation quickly escalated as two young children, ages five and eight, were seen fleeing from the home, confirming to the officers that a shooting had just occurred.
Upon entering the residence, law enforcement discovered a grim scene. Janet Vercruysse was found deceased, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Her death was later ruled a homicide by the Midwest Medical Examiner's Office. Alongside her was the body of 29-year-old Demico Elyea-Goss of St. Cloud.
