On December 27, 2024, Khalil Mahmood Esaw-El, a 50-year-old African American man, was fatally shot in Rockford, Illinois. The incident occurred around 3:21 p.m. at Max Mart, located at 922 Kilburn Avenue. Upon arrival, Rockford Police officers found the victim with multiple life-threatening gunshot wounds; he was pronounced dead at the scene.
