In the late spring of 2024, a domestic tragedy unfolded in New Iberia, Louisiana, ending the life of 49-year-old Marie Amy Guillory. On May 29th, deputies from the Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office were dispatched to a residence in the 6000 block of Coteau Road following reports of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered Guillory deceased at the scene, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
The investigation quickly pointed to a grim conclusion.
Not far from the home, in a nearby field, law enforcement located Guillory's husband, 50-year-old Herbert Guillory. He was also deceased, having suffered what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The evidence suggested a murder-suicide, with Herbert Guillory as the sole suspect in his wife's death.
Authorities have characterized the case as a domestic-related incident. With the suspect also deceased, the investigation into the violent end of Marie Amy Guillory's life concluded with no arrests to be made. The community was left to mourn the loss of a life cut short in a final, tragic act of domestic violence.
