A Black male from Bowie, Maryland, Stephenson was inside a home on St. Michaels Drive in the Mitchellville area when he was fatally shot just after midnight. His family, who had spent a joyful day with him, was left shattered, grappling with a loss that made no sense.
Earlier that day, Donnell had been surrounded by the warmth of his family. They had cheered on his brother at a basketball game and shared a meal at Outback Steakhouse. It was a day like any other, filled with laughter and the promise of tomorrow. Later in the evening, Donnell went to visit friends, a decision that would unknowingly place him in the path of unimaginable harm. His family firmly believes that he was not the intended target of the gunfire that erupted, leaving them with endless questions and a profound sense of injustice.
Prince George's County Police Department officers responded to a report of a shooting at approximately 12:15 a.m. and discovered Stephenson inside the residence, suffering from gunshot wounds.
