Cevannah Alvarez, an 18-year-old Hispanic female from New Bedford, was fatally shot on the evening of Saturday, March 22, 2025, in Brockton, Massachusetts. The incident, which also claimed the life of 15-year-old Tymari Albertson, occurred in the parking lot outside a Chipotle restaurant at the Westgate Mall complex. Reports from that night indicate that Brockton Police responded to a call at approximately 7:04 p.m. regarding a fight among several teenagers.
Upon arrival, first responders discovered both Alvarez and Albertson suffering from gunshot wounds.
Both teenagers were immediately transported to Good Samaritan Hospital. Albertson was pronounced dead at the hospital, while Alvarez was airlifted to Massachusetts General Hospital, where she ultimately succumbed to her injuries. Investigators believe the shooting stemmed from an altercation in the parking lot between Albertson and the suspected shooter. The shooting took place during the grand opening of an adventure park at the mall.
The Plymouth County District Attorney's Office identified 22-year-old Davinci Leonard of Brockton as the suspect in the double homicide. An arrest warrant was issued, and Leonard was added to the Massachusetts State Police Most Wanted List. He faces two counts of murder, as well as several firearms charges. Authorities have described Leonard as potentially armed and dangerous and have indicated he may have altered his appearance, possibly by cutting his hair, to evade capture. A gun was later discovered in the bushes near the scene of the crime.
While Davinci Leonard remains at large, two other individuals have been arrested in connection with the case. In July 2025, authorities announced the arrests of 32-year-old David Mosley-Lott of Quincy and 24-year-old Jaylen Speed of Dorchester. Both men were charged with being accessories after the fact, accused of helping Leonard avoid arrest. They were held on $50,000 cash bail and ordered to home confinement with GPS monitoring if released. The U.S. Marshals Service has offered a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to Leonard's arrest.
