In the late hours of May 1, 2025, the sound of gunfire pierced the night in the Landover area, prompting an immediate response from Prince George's County police officers. Upon searching the vicinity, they discovered 30-year-old James Kibler, a Black/African American male, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in the 8100 block of Allendale Drive, near Northwest Stadium.
Emergency services transported Kibler to a local hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries a short time later.
Detectives from the Homicide Unit were quick to launch an investigation into the fatal shooting. While the motive behind the attack remains unclear, authorities have stated they do not believe it was a random act of violence. The investigation is active and ongoing, with detectives working to identify a suspect or suspects in the shooting.
In an effort to gather more information, the Prince George's County Police Department is offering a reward of up to $25,000 for any information that leads to an arrest and indictment in the case. As of now, no arrests have been made, and the search for those responsible for James Kibler's death continues. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward and assist in the investigation.
