In the quiet morning hours of December 27, 2019, the life of 20-year-old Deshawn Ramsey of Cockeysville, Maryland, was tragically cut short in an apartment on the 3500 block of Dean Drive in Hyattsville. Responding to a report of a shooting at approximately 9:30 a.m., Prince George's County police officers discovered Ramsey inside the residence, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Despite immediate medical attention, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The initial investigation led police to believe that the shooting was not a random act of violence. As detectives delved deeper into the circumstances surrounding Ramsey's death, they identified a suspect, 20-year-old Tysheek Judkins. The investigation suggested that the fatal encounter occurred during an illegal drug transaction. In the weeks following the incident, authorities publicly offered a $25,000 reward for information that would lead to an arrest and indictment in the case.
In January 2020, Tysheek Judkins turned himself in to the Prince George's Corrections Department. He was subsequently charged with first-degree murder and other related offenses in connection with the death of Deshawn Ramsey. Following his arrest, Judkins was held without bond.
