African American male Derrick A. McKinney, 57, from Chicago, died on February 2, 2025. Before dawn that Sunday, officers were called to a home in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood, on the 8500 block of South Parnell Avenue, around 3:15 a.m. Inside, they found the 57-year-old with a gunshot wound to the chest. He was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.
