Jovan Dovantae Hopkins, a 22-year-old African American male, tragically lost his life on July 9, 2015, in Chicago, Illinois. The incident occurred in the South Side Back of the Yards neighborhood. On that fateful evening, Jovan and his brother, Dequan Hopkins, were walking in the 5200 block of South Emerald Avenue when the situation took a deadly turn.
