Jonathan Lenard Frazier, a 36-year-old pastor from Orlando, Florida, died on June 26, 2023, due to injuries sustained in a shooting at the Unity Banquet Hall in the Pine Hills area. The incident occurred just after midnight on June 24, 2023, during a surprise birthday party that turned violent.
Frazier, the leader of Roam Ministry, was among four people shot at the event. Willie Alphonso Bell Jr., 28, was pronounced dead at the hospital shortly after the shooting.
Two other men, both in their late 20s, were also shot but had non-life-threatening injuries and were released from the hospital. Frazier, who was found in a vehicle with a gunshot wound, was rushed to a local hospital and initially fought for his life but ultimately succumbed to his injuries on June 26, 2023.
According to Pastor Stovelleo Stovall of God is Able Church, Frazier died while trying to protect a young woman from being shot. Despite his small stature of only 5 feet tall, Frazier was described as having a "big heart" and being a "giant" in the eyes of those who knew him.
The shooting occurred outside the banquet hall, where around 100 people were present. However, despite the large number of witnesses, very few people cooperated with the investigators. The Orange County Sheriff’s Office has been working to gather information and has offered a $5,000 reward for any leads that might result in an arrest, but as of the latest reports, no suspects have been identified or arrested.
Frazier's death has been met with widespread mourning from his community, with many highlighting his transformation from a life in prison to becoming a pastor and preaching the gospel. His last recorded message, livestreamed on Father’s Day, emphasized the role of a father in preparing children for the future and the importance of faith.
