On February 3, 2024, Otis T. Whiteside, a 41-year-old man, was fatally shot during a altercation on Chicago's Southwest Side. The incident occurred in a parking lot in the 4700 block of West 47th Street at approximately 1:41 a.m..

During the altercation, Whiteside was involved in a fight with two women. In the course of the fight, one of the women, who holds a concealed carry license, pulled out a handgun and shot Whiteside in the armpit. He was subsequently taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital, ...
