In the early morning hours of April 8, 2025, the Portland neighborhood of Louisville, Kentucky, was shattered by an act of violence that claimed three lives. Among the victims was David Hillary Clark Jr., a 49-year-old male who was found shot to death inside a residence on Griffiths Avenue. Police responded to a call just before 5 a.m. and discovered a grim scene.
Alongside Clark, two other individuals, 37-year-old Mallory Cox and 37-year-old Robert Auter, were also found deceased, all suffering from gunshot wounds.
David, born on March 20, 1976, was a Louisville native who worked as a salvage collector, a profession that suited his passion for finding and collecting scrap of all kinds. He was a man who found joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as fishing, and was known for his adventurous spirit and deep love for his family and friends. His sudden and violent death left a void in the lives of his loved ones, including his father, children, and numerous other relatives and friends who remembered his generosity and zest for life.
The Louisville Metro Police Department's Homicide Unit immediately launched an investigation into the triple homicide. For a time, no suspects were publicly identified, and the motive behind the shooting remained unclear. However, investigators received a significant break in the case thanks to an outpouring of information from the community. More than two dozen tips poured in, with many specifically naming 29-year-old Cody Warf as the potential shooter.
Based on the multitude of tips, authorities located and apprehended Cody Warf. He was arrested following a traffic stop in Floyd County, Indiana, where a gun was also recovered. Warf, who was a convicted felon with a history of weapons and drug charges, was charged with three counts of murder for the deaths of David Clark Jr., Mallory Cox, and Robert Auter. Police indicated that Warf and the victims were acquaintances, but the full extent of their relationship and the circumstances leading up to the shooting were not immediately disclosed. Warf also faced additional charges of escape, giving false information, and fleeing police.
