On the evening of April 30, 2025, a fatal encounter unfolded in Louisville, Kentucky, that claimed the life of 37-year-old Joshua Dido Mulinda. A man of Black/African American descent, originally from Kinshasa, Congo, Mulinda was a father to three children, Jaiden, Zaharrah, and Seniya. He was an active member of the Evangel World Prayer Center and was remembered by his family for his warmth and generosity.
The tragic events began with a verbal altercation inside the Louisville Liquor Palace on Poplar Level Road. The argument, involving Mulinda and another man, spilled out into the parking lot. There, the confrontation escalated dramatically when the other individual, identified as 46-year-old Kapongo Job Badibanga, allegedly drew a handgun and shot Mulinda four times. Emergency medical services were called to the scene, but Mulinda's injuries proved fatal, and he was pronounced dead.
Following the shooting, the gunman fled the area. Louisville Metro Police launched an investigation, utilizing witness statements and surveillance footage from the scene to identify a suspect. Through this evidence, authorities were able to identify and track down Badibanga. He was subsequently arrested and charged with murder in connection with Mulinda's death. In addition to the murder charge, Badibanga also faces a charge of possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.
Kapongo Job Badibanga is currently being held at Louisville Metro Corrections on a $500,000 bond. During his arraignment, a plea of not guilty was entered on his behalf. The case is now proceeding through the legal system as the investigation continues to determine the motive behind the deadly dispute.
