In the early morning hours of the Fourth of July in Louisville, Kentucky, a burst of violence cut short the life of Alonzo C. Hearn, Jr., a 33-year-old Black male. The incident unfolded around 2:30 a.m. in the city's Jacobs neighborhood, specifically near the intersection of Craig Avenue and Strader Avenue. Officers from the Louisville Metro Police Department's Fourth Division were dispatched to the scene following reports of a shooting.
Upon their arrival, police discovered Hearn
suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The officers immediately rendered first aid to him on the scene until Emergency Medical Services could take over. Paramedics quickly prepared Hearn for transport to the University of Louisville Hospital in an attempt to save his life. Despite the urgent medical intervention, he was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital.
The Louisville Metro Police Department's Homicide Unit is handling the ongoing investigation into the shooting.
