In the early morning hours of February 27, 2025, a discovery was made in an alley on the west side of Indianapolis that would soon become a homicide investigation. Thirty-eight-year-old Pedro Amasifuen Mozombite, a male of Southwest Asian descent, was found unresponsive in the 1100 block of North Somerset Avenue. The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department had initially responded to a call about a person down around 3 a.m.
Upon their arrival, it was quickly apparent that Mozombite had sustained gunshot wounds. Medics were called to the scene but were unable to render aid, pronouncing him dead.
The case was promptly classified as a homicide, and detectives began their investigation. The Marion County Coroner's Office later officially identified the victim as Pedro Amasifuen Mozombite on March 13. As investigators worked to piece together the events leading to his death, neighbors in the area expressed their concerns about safety, with some noting that while reports of gunfire were not uncommon, homicides were rare in their immediate vicinity.
A break in the case came on March 12, 2025, when the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, with the assistance of the Indiana State Police SWAT team, arrested 47-year-old Alfred Armour. Armour, an Indianapolis resident, was taken into custody for his alleged involvement in Mozombite's death. He was subsequently charged with murder and unlawful possession of a gun by a serious violent felon. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting is ongoing as law enforcement continues to gather evidence. Following his death, it was announced that there would be no local funeral services for Mozombite, and his burial was planned to take place at a later date in Lima, Peru.
