Julia Smythe Conner, a 31-year-old woman from Chicago, Illinois, met a tragic end on December 24, 1891. She was the wife of Icilius 'Ned' Conner, who operated a jewelry kiosk within the pharmacy of H. H. Holmes, a man later identified as one of America's first documented serial killers. Julia became romantically involved with Holmes, engaging in a long-term affair that persisted even after her marriage. Eventually, she demanded marriage from Holmes, a request that led to her untimely demise.
