On the night of April 15, 2025, tragedy struck in Bolingbrook, Illinois, when 17-year-old Daniel V. Starks was fatally shot inside his home on Grove Court near Grove Lane. The shooting occurred around 11 p.m., prompting an immediate response from Bolingbrook police. Upon arrival, officers discovered the teenage victim suffering from gunshot wounds in the basement of the residence.
Emergency medical personnel transported him to a nearby hospital, but he was pronounced dead shortly before midnight.
Authorities have classified the incident as a homicide, but as of now, no suspects have been identified, and no arrests have been made. Investigators are working to determine a motive and are actively seeking additional surveillance footage from neighbors. A Ring camera from a nearby home captured flashes from at least four gunshots fired into the residence, followed by several individuals fleeing the scene. Some witnesses believe the suspects may have escaped in a getaway vehicle parked down the street.
This tragic event marks the second shooting on that block this year. The previous incident, which occurred in January, did not result in any injuries. Police have not confirmed whether the two shootings are connected.
