On the evening of April 29, 2025, tragedy struck in Harvey, Illinois, when 17-year-old Amari M. Binion was fatally shot near 147th Street and Perry Avenue. Binion, a young Black male, had just exited the EZ Pawn shop at 468 E. 147th Street shortly after 5 p.m. when he encountered a group standing in the driveway of a nearby McDonald's on Sibley Boulevard.
