Joshua Drummond, 22, male, African-American/Black, was shot shortly before noon on Tuesday, January 10, 2012, outside 2531 Maple Street in Omaha. According to early reports, he had gone to get the mail in front of his mother s home when someone chased him down and shot him in the head before fleeing. He was transported to the Nebraska Medical Center in extremely critical condition and was reported brain dead that evening. He died from his injuries the next day, Wednesday, January 11, 2012.
Police initially said they were seeking two men in connection with the shooting, and the investigation remained active in the days that followed. Local accounts and later summaries indicate that no arrests were announced and the case has been described as unsolved, leaving his family and the community still without answers about who was responsible.
