Brendon Ford, an 18-year-old Black male, was shot in the early hours of June 16, 2013, in North Omaha. Police responded to a ShotSpotter activation around 1:23 to 1:30 a.m. near 22nd and Saratoga Streets and found two teenagers wounded outside a residence at 2220 Saratoga Street. One victim was pronounced dead at the scene; Ford was rushed to Creighton University Medical Center, where he died shortly after arrival. Authorities identified the second victim as 17-year-old D Marco Pope.
Neighbors described the gathering as a house party that drew a crowd before gunfire erupted, scattering people into the street. In the days that followed, friends, family, pastors, and community members gathered near the block to mourn, release balloons, and pray for peace, their posters and prayers turning the intersection into a makeshift memorial. An obituary later confirmed Ford s age and death date, marking the loss felt by his family alongside the broader grief in the neighborhood.
Investigators appealed to the public for tips and emphasized that multiple shots had been detected by the city s gunfire sensors moments before officers arrived. Despite the early leads and the visibility of the crime scene, police reported no arrests, and the case remains open with Crime Stoppers urging anyone with information to come forward to identify the suspect or suspects.
